Term 3 Update

Welcome back to all our students and families! We hope everyone had a safe, relaxing and enjoyable holiday break and is feeling refreshed for the term ahead. We are looking forward to another exciting term filled with engaging learning opportunities, excursions and activities that continue to support our students academically, socially and personally. We thank our families for their ongoing partnership and support and look forward to another successful term together.

Last term was a busy and rewarding one across the Middle School. Our Year 10 students had the opportunity to attend the Queensland Camp, where they challenged themselves, built resilience and created lasting memories. Throughout the camp, students strengthened existing friendships, formed new connections and stepped outside their comfort zones by participating in a range of exciting activities. It was wonderful to see students supporting one another and developing confidence in new environments. During our  Year 10 Assembly, students were able to reflect on and celebrate these memorable experiences together. Students who were unable to attend the Queensland Camp had the opportunity to participate in Day Trips ensuring everyone had the chance to enjoy a shared experience with their peers.

We would also like to congratulate all of our Year 10 students on their efforts during the Semester 1 examination period. The exams provided students with valuable experience in preparing for Senior School and helped develop important skills such as organisation, revision strategies and exam techniques that will support them as they move towards VCE. We are incredibly proud of the maturity and persistence our students demonstrated throughout the examination period.

A sincere thank you also goes to our parents and carers for the support and encouragement you provided your children during what can often be a stressful time. Your partnership plays an important role in helping our students achieve their best.

We would also like to acknowledge our dedicated Middle School staff for their hard work in organising the examination period. Their efforts in rescheduling assessments where required and ensuring students received the appropriate special provisions and adjustments allowed every student the opportunity to demonstrate their learning in a supportive environment.

This week we were pleased to host our Year 10 into Year 11 Subject Information Evening. Thank you to the many families who attended. We hope the evening provided valuable information to assist students as they begin planning their pathways into Senior School.

Last term our Year 9 students made a positive impact through their Community Service Program at the local aged care home. This experience has provided students with valuable opportunities to build relationships, develop empathy and contribute positively to the wider community.

This term, students will also be working collaboratively to design, plan and operate their own market stalls as part of their learning. Through this project, students will develop skills in teamwork, communication, budgeting, creativity and problem-solving while gaining an understanding of entrepreneurship and event planning. We are excited to see the innovative ideas our students bring to life.

Later this term, our Year 9 students will also participate in City Experience, providing authentic learning opportunities as they explore Melbourne and connect their classroom learning with the wider community.
