Principal's Report

Dear SEPS Families,
Thank you to all of our staff, students and parent community for your ongoing hard work and support this term. It was great to see everyone at Parent /Teacher interviews earlier this week.
World Cup
The yard was abuzz yesterday when Channel 7 News popped in to film our students getting ready for the big game today. It is not very often that the time zones are on our side when it comes to worldwide events. It was so exciting that we got to come together to watch the game at the exact sime time as the rest of the world. It was a great opportunity to show our students that we are part of a massive, interconnected planet. While we didn't kick that much anticipated goal, there was great excitement in the gym when the final 0-0 result was in our favour. It will hopefully become one of those core memory’s for our students… where were you when we stopped that goal against Paraguay? I was in the gym at SEPS, cheering with all my Sandy East mates!
Child Safety
I would like to thank one of our parents for their vigilance in ensuring that our community is safe. It was reported to the office that they witnessed a stranger in our yard who was acting suspiciously. We took this seriously and were able to investigate it immediately using our CCTV footage. We were eventually able to determine that this was in fact an innocent situation and the adult was on the school grounds for legitimate reasons. It was a timely reminder that we really do need to be aware of our surroundings and on the look out to ensure that our children are in the right place at the right time, including before and after school hours. We thank you for your continued support with all child-safe matters.
For further information and to review our Child Safety Policy and processes, all related policies can be found on our school website or by contacting the office.
Battle of the Bands
A reminder to grab your tickets and support our parent band, Carpool Tunnel Syndrome, in the Bayside round of Battle of the Bands on August 7 at Lucky 13 Garage in Moorabbin. Make sure you click on SEPS when you buy your tickets. Proceeds from all ticket sales come directly back to the school for our music/performing arts program. Bring along family and friends… or come on your own and meet up with a great bunch of SEPS parents on the night.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy winter holidays. For those of you venturing somewhere warmer, I am very envious.
See you all next term!
Jane Briffa
