Wow - what a spectacular way to finish the term! Our Sovereign Hill Camp was filled with unforgettable experiences, learning opportunities and plenty of fun. Students immersed themselves in life during the Gold Rush era, attending school in costume, panning for gold and exploring the township. We enjoyed watching traditional candle making and confectionery demonstrations and were amazed by the incredible Aura light and sound show.
Perhaps the highlight of all was the opportunity for students to spend time with friends, strengthen existing friendships and forge new ones. We were incredibly proud of the way students represented our school throughout the camp.
A very special thank you to our wonderful parent volunteer, Nawar Bazy, who generously gave his time to support our camp. Nawar brought humour, enthusiasm and a positive attitude to every activity, helping to make the experience even more enjoyable for both students and staff. We are incredibly grateful for his support. A big thank you also to Dylan Swanepoel, who stepped up at the last minute as a quasi-parent volunteer and truly saved the day! Dylan was a fantastic help throughout the camp and a big hit with both students and staff. We greatly appreciated his enthusiasm, flexibility and willingness to lend a hand wherever needed.
Thank you to our families for your support in making this wonderful experience possible. We wish everyone a safe, restful and well-deserved holiday break and look forward to seeing you all next term.
Following our recent study of book covers and the features that attract readers, students have been busy publishing their own original writing pieces. As part of this process, they have designed a front cover, written a blurb, created a tagline, and completed a back cover to showcase their work. Students have enjoyed bringing together their creativity and writing skills to produce a finished piece that looks and feels like a real book. We look forward to sharing their completed publications with you soon.
A reminder that the Senior Learning Centre Reading Log Challenge is still going! Student reading logs are monitored each week to track which class is reading the most and showing the greatest consistency. The competition has sparked wonderful conversations about books and reading, and we encourage all students to keep up the fantastic effort.
Over the past week, students have been immersed in a World Cup-themed rich assessment task ⚽. This task allowed them to revisit and extend their understanding of Multiplicative Thinking through authentic, open-ended challenges.

Each lesson started with an engaging warm-up to build student's confidence with key number facts before tackling the day's learning.
The activities included:
The tasks were differentiated to provide the right level of challenge for every student, allowing them to take ownership of their learning and apply the knowledge they have developed throughout the term.
The students did such a great job at working with their peers and thinking flexibly to apply their learning. We look forward to continuing this progress in Term 3!
Enjoy the holidays
Warm regards,
The Level 5 Team - Michelle, Cazz and Katie
