Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity

As some of the children have returned from their holiday break they have been sharing their experiences over this time with one another. This has lead to a discovery of shared experiences and further discussions about these, which has helped to develop deeper connections between the children.

Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world 

Following on from Naidoc week, which was held from 5-12 July, we have been exploring how to embed more aspects of the Indigenous culture within our classrooms and the programs, including the introduction of Boonwurrung words, such as 'wawa' (hello), watched a program that explains what Country is and how we can take care of it and revisiting why we sing our Acknowledgment song at the sart of the week.

Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing 

In line with the introduction of the Kindness Campaign at the Primary School, we are also focusing on kindness with the children in the Early Learning Centre. Beginning with highlighting the children's own action and behaviours when they demonstrate acts of kindness towards one another, we will then begin to explore in greater depth what the concept of kindness is and how this can be shown towards themselves, to others and to the world around them.

Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners  

This Term, each of the kinder groups are exploring the unit of inquiry on light, looking into the sources of light, how light changes what we see and the relationship between light and country, encompassing land, sky, water, flora and fauna. In the first weeks of their learning the children have been exploring different sources of light, including torches, lamps, light tables and panels and projectors, discovering how they can change the appearance of objects, light up areas or objects, create shadows, and make rainbows appear when shone on mirrored surfaces.

Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators 

As the children have come to us with their wonderings about the world, such as 'How to grow a dinosaur' or 'Where did the platypus gets its feet?' we have turned these back to the children and encouraged them to share their own ideas and theories. In doing so, the children have demonstrated the ability to actively listen to one another, to process what has been said and then expand on this or offer an alternative point of view.
