Lunchtime Clubs & Afterschool Programs

At Lyndale Secondary College, we are proud to offer a range of lunchtime clubs and afterschool programs for our students to engage with.

National Science Week Lunchtime Activities

 

From Monday 17 August - Friday 21 August, we will be celebrating National Science Week! Students will have the opportunity to join us during lunchtime in the STEM building each day as we explore and nurture our scientific curiosity together - and there will be prizes for our activity winners!

Monday, 17 August - Chia Seed Planting

Kick off the week by planting chia seeds and observing their rapid growth over the first couple of days.

 

Tuesday 18 August - Seed Dissection & Microscopy

Take a closer look inside different seeds using microscopes to discover their hidden structures.

 

Wednesday 19 August - Kahoot Quiz

Test your life sciences knowledge and compete against your peers in a fun, fast-paced trivia challenge.

 

Thursday 20 August - Seed Identification & Anatomy

Look at the physical seed samples provided at your lab station. Match each seed to its correct name.

 

Friday 21 August - The Science of Popcorn

End the week by participating in a Kahoot quiz and exploring the physical reaction and pressure changes that turn a simple kernel into popcorn!


Active Schools Lunchtime Clubs

 

Get active, build your skills and have fun with our lunchtime sports sessions! Students in Years 7–12 are invited to join Basketball with AJ, Volleyball with Ollie, or Strength & Fitness with Ms Carmichael.

 

Whether you’re an experienced athlete or just keen to try something new, everyone is welcome. Bring your friends, meet new people and learn from our specialist coaches—all during lunchtime in the gym!

 

All abilities welcome. Sign up in the gym foyer and get involved!

 

Basketball

When: Mondays (girls only) and Fridays

Bring your mates for casual games or show off your skills. Big energy, big fun!

 

Volleyball

When: Wednesdays

Join us for fun and fast-paced volleyball games - perfect for all skill levels.

 

Strength & Fitness

When: Thursdays

Smash your fitness goals, learn new exercises, and train with friends!

Open Mic with iRock

When: Thursdays

We will be running open mics with iRock on Thursdays at lunchtime for anyone that would like to sing or play an instrument! You don't have to be a performer, just have some courage and give it a go.

Chinese Culture Club

Where: B3

When: Mondays

Discover the vibrant world of the Chinese Culture Club! We offer an immersive experience into Chinese traditions, featuring activities including calligraphy, Chinese painting, Chinese paper cutting, and Peking Opera make painting. Join us to celebrate major festivals like Chinese New Year with an authentic new year decorating activity.

The Lyndale Secondary College Interact Club is looking for motivated students who want to give back, locally and globally, while having a blast doing it!

Chess Club

Where: STEM 9

When: Mondays and Thursdays

Lunchtime Chess Club provides students with a welcoming, low-pressure space to challenge themselves intellectually while connecting with peers. Chess builds critical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills, encouraging students to think ahead, analyse consequences, and learn from mistakes. 

 

The Polyglot (LOTE) Club

Where: B3

When: Tuesdays

Learn the basics of languages spoken around the world. *BYO laptop

The Polyglot Club is organised for students to engage in learning a new language each term using a designated online resource with a game-like approach. Laptops are essential for each session. Choose a language spoken from any of the continents and open the window to a new cultural experience!

 

Maths Club

Where: STEM 9

When: Tuesdays

Need assistance with Maths, struggling to understand the formulas? Mr Vanderlely will be in S1 to help you!

 

Technology Club

What: Rapid Prototyping/3D Printing Workshop

Where: D1

When: Wednesdays

Want to 3D design your own custom gear? Join us to create personalised bag tags and keyrings using our 3D printers. No experience needed - just bring your lunch and your ideas!

 

Debating Club

Where: B1

When: Thursdays

Come and be part of a team that prepares for online debating tournaments with other schools from across Victoria.

After School Programs

 

Fitness Club

When: Thursdays 3.00pm

Speak to Jack, Rhys or Ms. Carmichael to join the Fitness Club! This term, we are focusing on less mainstream sports and associated skills, encouraging students to bring forth any sports that they would like to learn or share. This program is open to all year levels.

School Production Workshops

Where: PA 3

Workshops for the school production are up and running. 

If you like acting, writing, singing, music, design or costume, come and join us on Thursday afternoons from 3.15 until 4.30.

 

Study Support Group (Homework Club)

When: Mon 3.15pm - 4.30pm

Where: Senior School Building (Rooms S6 and S7)

Why: Experienced Tutors or Teachers can assist with extra support to all attendees.

 

We are running our Study Support Group (previously known as Homework Club) on Monday afternoons in the Senior School Building.

 

All students are welcome to join and benefit from our Experienced TUTORS.
