Principal's Report

Welcome Back to Term 3
It has been a fantastic start to Term 3, with students quickly settling back into their learning routines and demonstrating in their everyday actions our College values of Respect, Resilience and Responsibility.
On Monday 13 July, we held a very productive Curriculum Day. Our staff engaged in professional learning focused on Lesson Planning through the VTLM 2.0 Mindset where they explored three key questions that guide effective teaching:
- What do my students need to know?
- How will I teach it explicitly?
- How will I know they've got it?
This work strengthens our collective capacity to plan and deliver high-quality lessons that meet the diverse needs of our students, and continues through our weekly Monday and Tuesday team meetings. A sincere thank you to our School Council for supporting this valuable day of staff professional learning.
This term also marks the beginning of the 2026 subject selection process. Students and families took part in a series of information sessions and pathway conversations on Thursday 6 August, designed to help them make well-informed decisions that align with their interests, future studies and career goals.
Year 10 Work Experience Success
Congratulations to our Year 10 students for their successful Work Experience week at the end of Term 2. The feedback from employers was overwhelmingly positive and it was inspiring to hear the many stories of learning, growth and professionalism. Thank you to our Careers Team for the enormous effort in organising placements and preparing students and to the teachers who visited students onsite. Your support was greatly appreciated.
NAPLAN Results
All Year 7 and Year 9 students have now received their NAPLAN results. We are proud to share that in every area assessed, for both Year 7 and Year 9, our students have outperformed similar and network schools. In fact, in all but one area, our results exceed the state average. Beyond these overall achievements, there are many individual success stories worth celebrating.
At an upcoming Celebrations Assembly, later this Term, numerous Year 9 students will be receiving certificates recognizing their excellent growth since Year 7. This is a significant milestone, as it is the first time the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) has issued such certificates.
Our Year 7 cohort shows great potential, and we are focused on extending our capable learners while continuing to support those identified as ‘Developing’ or ‘Needing Additional Support.’
It is also important to highlight the outstanding 2026 Victorian NAPLAN results, which were the best in the country. Victoria ranked first or second in 18 out of 20 measures, far ahead of any other state or territory. Our school is particularly proud to contribute to these exceptional results.
2026 Parent Opinion Survey
The 2026 Parent Opinion Survey will be open for parents to access from 17 August – 18 September. The login link will be made available on Compass. This annual survey, provided by the Department of Education, gathers insights into families’ views on student engagement, behaviour and the overall school climate. We highly value your feedback and use it to guide our school improvement efforts. Thank you all for your continued support and engagement with our College.
Celebrating Strong Attendance and a Continued Focus on Success
Congratulations to the 100+ students who achieved 100% attendance in Semester 1! These students were recognised with a celebratory sausage sizzle in recognition of their commitment.
At our school, attendance and punctuality remain key priorities because we know that attending every day and being on time are among the most important factors for student success. Every minute in class matters: being late disrupts learning, impacts others, and undermines the development of strong habits. Just 10 minutes late each day adds up to over 17 days of lost learning across 13 years of school. Missing a day a fortnight (90% attendance) adds up to 1.5 years of missed learning. This is critical time that can’t be replaced.
Our goal is for every student to meet 100% attendance, and we know that our most successful VCE and VCE VM students consistently achieve this benchmark. Families can track attendance through Compass, Coordinators, semester reports, and regular emails sent home. If your child needs support to improve attendance or punctuality, please contact their Coordinator to discuss tailored strategies that can help.
I look forward to an exciting and productive term ahead.
Best wishes,
Pam Robinson
Principal
