Junior School

On the last day of Term 2, we held our celebration assemblies for Years 7, 8 and 9. Here we recognised students for their academic achievements, their efforts towards trying their best, and students who demonstrate our school values of Respect, Resilience and Responsibility. Congratulations to all students who received awards.
This time of year is often considered the most challenging for students. The weather is often cold, the days are short, the end of the year is still not really on the horizon, and the term is only halfway through. I want to commend all our students that turn up to school on time, ready to learn and striving to reflect our school values in the decisions they make at school.
I wish to remind all students of expectations and protocols that are in place to help with the smooth and orderly learning environment at our school.
LOCKERS - All students have been allocated a locker and should be using it. It is expected that students keep their belongings locked in their own locker. It is not appropriate for students to be keeping their belongings in another person's locker.
UNIFORM - If students have a genuine reason for being out of uniform, then they must report to the Junior School Coordinators Office with a note signed by a parent or guardian explaining the reason. A uniform pass is unlikely to be provided without this. This should be done before 8.40 am. If students are out of uniform without a note, then they may be withdrawn from classes, parents may be contacted to bring missing uniform items into the school or additional consequences may be enforced. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure their uniform is available and ready to be worn each day.
BULLYING - Staff at Lyndale Secondary College take the utmost care to ensure students have an environment in which they feel safe and valued and where students can achieve their academic, social and emotional potential. Bullying is something that can get in the way of this and our school takes bullying matters very seriously. If students feel they are the victim of any bullying, or have witnessed the bullying of other students, it is imperative they tell a staff member, ideally one of the Year Level Coordinators. It is difficult for us to address such behaviours if we have not been informed that they are occurring.
Year 9 students will be having their city experience excursions in the first two weeks of Term 4. 9A, 9B and 9C will be in the city from Tuesday 6 October to Friday 9 October. 9D, 9E and 9F will be in the city from Tuesday 13 October to Friday 16 October. A reminder that consent and payment must be made by Friday 11 September. Classes run as normal for the week that half the Year 9s are still at school.
Finally, I would like to celebrate one of our Year 8 students, Dean Suza. Following two World Tennis tournaments in Brisbane, Dean recently represented Australia in the Johann Cruyff Asia/Oceania Tennis Camp at the Tokyo Open. What an opportunity for Dean! We look forward to seeing how he will move through the tennis ranks in future. Well done, Dean.

Our Year 9 students recently welcomed Inspired by You (IBY) back to school for an engaging session on career planning. Through interactive activities and honest conversations, students had the chance to explore their strengths, interests, and values, helping them figure out what they're truly suited to as they start thinking seriously about their futures.
