Interact Club visit Regis Aged Care

As part of a local community initiative, the Lyndale Interact Club recently visited Regis Aged Care in North Dandenong where they spent time with the residents. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Greater Dandenong and Endeavour Hills, the Interact Club offers students a chance to develop key leadership and teamwork skills and gives them an opportunity to volunteer and help both their local and international communities.

The visit to Regis Aged Care was thoroughly enjoyed by both the students and residents:

"When we first arrived at Regis, I felt nervous about what to expect, but that soon changed when I saw how much their faces lit up when we talked to them. This experience made me more aware that sometimes all a person needs is someone to talk to. Seeing the residents happy made the visit feel worthwhile and reminded me how important it is to connect with people from different generations." - Olivia, Year 9

"Visiting the aged care centre was a truly meaningful and emotional experience. I had the opportunity to speak with one resident in my mother tongue, Tamil, which made our conversation especially personal and comforting. Listening to the residents share their life stories and experiences reminded me how much companionship and a simple conversation can brighten someone's day. It was heartwarming to see that even a short one-hour visit could make such a positive difference, and the experience left me feeling grateful and inspired." - Vigashni, Year 9

The Interact Club meets every Monday at lunchtime in S7. It is open to students in Year 9, 10 and 11. If you would like to know more or are interested in joining, come and talk to Ms Smith (Humanities Office, B Building).
