The Assumption of Mary Friday 15th August
On Friday the 15th of August we celebrated the feast called The Assumption of Mary into heaven. This is a day that we remember when Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken into heaven, body and soul, after she died. Mary’s life and death are a wonderful example of praise and thanksgiving to God.
Immaculate Mary, assumed into heaven,
teach us to trust in God's plan the way you did.
Do not let us fear obstacles or uncertainties.
Inspire us and pray for us today, as we celebrate your Assumption.
Amen.
Luke 1:46-56 (Mary proclaims the glory of God).
Mary said, “My heart praises the Lord; My soul is glad because of God my Saviour, For God has remembered me, his lowly servant! From now on all people will call me happy, Because of the great things the Mighty God has done for me. God’s name is holy; From one generation to another God shows mercy to those who honour God. God has stretched out his mighty arm and scattered the proud with all their plans. God has brought down the mighty kings from their thrones, And lifted up the lowly. God has filled the hungry with good things, And sent the rich away with empty hands. God has kept the promise made to our ancestors, And has come to the help of his servant Israel. God has remembered to show mercy to Abraham And to all his descendants for ever.”
