 Yesterday, almost 2,000 people gathered at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Bendigo to witness the Installation of the Most Rev. René Ramirez RCJ as the Ninth Bishop of Sandhurst. It was a joyful and historic occasion, bringing together clergy, religious, parishioners, school communities, and guests from across the Diocese to celebrate this significant milestone. 

During the celebration, Bishop René shared his inspiring life story, his journey of faith, and his hopes and aspirations for leading the Catholic community throughout the Diocese of Sandhurst. His message centred on walking together in faith, serving others with compassion, and strengthening our relationship with God and Jesus Christ. 

The role of the Bishop is an important one, providing spiritual leadership and guidance to the people of the Diocese. Through his ministry, Bishop René will continue to nurture and deepen the faith of our Catholic community, encouraging all people to flourish, thrive, and live out the Gospel in their daily lives. 

As a school community, we warmly welcome Bishop René and assure him of our prayers as he begins this new chapter of service to the people of Sandhurst.

Loving God, 

We thank You for the gift of Bishop René and for his generous response to Your call to serve the people of the Diocese of Sandhurst. 

Fill him with the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, the compassion of Christ, and the courage to lead with faith, hope, and love. Bless him with strength, good health, and joy as he shepherds our Catholic community and inspires us to grow closer to You. 

May Bishop René always know the support of our prayers, and may his ministry bring peace, unity, and hope to all those he serves. 

We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
