 3/4 CLASSROOM

3/4 Learning Highlights

Over the past two weeks, we finished reading Storm Boy. Students enjoyed sharing their thoughts and feelings about the story and discussing its important messages about friendship, loyalty and caring for animals and the environment. We have now started The Wild Robot and are enjoying reading it together each morning.

In Writing, students have been researching the Coorong and creating their own information reports. They are now developing their second body paragraph and learning how to organise facts clearly.

In Spelling, we explored the “lazy” schwa sound and different ways to spell the /ar/, /or/ and /ir/ sounds. Students also completed their first progress-monitoring assessment and achieved wonderful results. I am very proud of their effort and growing ability to retain and apply their spelling knowledge.

In Maths, we completed our addition and subtraction unit. Students enjoyed learning to use written algorithms, with many challenging themselves to try regrouping. We have now begun exploring multiplication and division.

In RE, we continued our unit, Known, Loved and Called: Choosing Jesus. Students have been reading Scripture and reflecting on important ideas, including dignity and how Jesus teaches us to value and respect others. The students also finished their identity posters; they look fantastic!
