Year 3 Highlight

Over the last few weeks, our Year 3 students have been developing their research and information report writing skills. They investigated the different states and territories of Australia, and gathered accurate information from the internet, atlas’ other non-fiction texts. Students practised paraphrasing by identifying key facts, rewriting them in their own words before using this information to create their detailed information reports.

The students have also explored how digital tools can enhance their writing, by learning to use Google Docs to transform their paragraphs into colourful and creative shapes. This has allowed them to present their work in an engaging and visually appealing way.

To connect their learning across subjects, students applied their writing knowledge to their DBL project, where they are creating an ‘Information Report Suitcase’. This project will ultimately combine research, writing, creativity and presentation skills, as they will showcase their understanding of Australia's states and territories in an exciting and interactive way.
