Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you!
Mass
It was wonderful to have so many community members join with us in celebrating the Feast of the Assumption, focusing on Mary the mother of Jesus. It was quite amazing to watch our wonderful young people read with such confidence, clarity and reverence. Well done to our K/1/2, Mrs Anderson and Mrs Harris for leading us in this mass.
During mass we also had our Semester 2 Mini Vinnies team inducted, blessed and presented with their badges. Congratulations!
Mary MacKillop
What a lovely way to acknowledge the feast day of St Mary MacKillop. The school came together in the library to participate in a liturgy. We learned a bit about Mary's story, the history of our own school and its connection to Mary MacKillop and the Sisters of St Joseph.
Confirmation
Confirmation falls every second year at St John's Barraba and the date is set by the chancery office in Armidale. This year we will celebrate this sacrament on Sunday, 22 September which will be at the end of week 9 of THIS term. This will involve students in Years 5 and 6 who have made their First Holy Communion. Information has gone out to families this week. It would be helpful to have the notes returned as soon as possible so that lessons can commence on time.
Fr Curran
This coming August marks a very special occasion where Fr John Curran will celebrate his golden jubilee of priesthood; fifty years in the job! To mark this occasion we have two events:
We would love to see as many people there as possible.
RSVP closes this weekend for Sunday's function, so please send a message through as soon as possible if you would like to attend.
Answering Questions
I have come across a great resource that explains a lot of questions about the Catholic faith, mass, sacraments and prayers. It is organised in a way that you can find answers quickly and the explanations are concise, clear and easy to read. If you want to discuss anything or have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach out!
