Visual Arts

From the Visual Arts room.
Foundation to Grade 6
Each student has been designing and creating a stamp that will be used in their artwork that will be on display in Week 3 during the Friday CLaS activity.
Australian animals and plants were used as inspiration in the design of the stamp.
Students in Foundation, Grade 1 and 2 went into the school yard to look at the beautiful eucalyptus trees, touch the bark and collect eucalyptus leaves. Students practised their drawing skills by tracing the wooden block (the base of their stamp) and looking carefully at the shape of the eucalyptus leaves. The size of the leaf would need to fit onto the wooden block.
Grade 3, 4, 5 and 6 students used pictures of Australian animals and plants to assist with their drawing and design work.
The next step was to choose a design and copy the drawing onto the foam. Careful and precise scissor skills were use to cut the detail into the foam. Students needed to think about breaking their design into basic shapes and used trial and error to consider what design would work best.
The foam design was then glued onto the wooden block and will be used to create the artwork to be display during CLaS in Week 3.
Take a moment to ...
appreciate the wonderful eucalyptus trees in the school yard. Look at the patterns and lines in the bark and the leaves.
