It has been wonderful to welcome our Year 4 and 6 students to Kitchen Garden and to spend time working alongside our fantastic volunteers. Thank you to everyone who generously gave their time to support these sessions.

Our Skye Garden has been bursting with fresh produce, and students enjoyed harvesting beetroot leaves, spinach, saltbush, oranges, radishes, peas, carrots, parsley, mint and lemons. They used these seasonal ingredients to create a range of delicious recipes, which you can find below.

Our Year 3–6 students have been busy in the Food Tech kitchen, developing their kitchen safety skills and becoming familiar with our cooking routines. Working collaboratively in small groups, students followed recipes and practised measuring, mixing, kneading and cooking.

Our Year 3 and 4 students made pancakes topped with rhubarb and lemon myrtle harvested fresh from the school garden. Year 5 and 6 students baked delicious scones served with Old Man Saltbush butter.

The Year 5 and 6 students planted many native edible plants at the end of last year.  It has been wonderful to incorporate them into our recipes and try Australia's unique native flavours.

Can you help with Kitchen Garden?  Volunteers are an essential part of our Kitchen Garden program. Your support helps make our kitchen sessions a success, allowing students to enjoy hands on cooking experiences in a safe, fun, and engaging environment. Please get in touch if you or someone you know is able to volunteer.
