Upcoming Learning
Literacy
In Stage 7.5 of the Little Learners Love Literacy scope and sequence, students have continued building their understanding of the extended code by exploring more complex spelling patterns, long vowel sounds, alternative graphemes and common word endings. We will be looking at the different ways to say and spell words ending in -ous like in poisonous. We will also explore alternate spellings for /or/ such as board and /ar/ such as in half.
Over the next few weeks, students will be exploring our new mentor text, City of Light, which is an informative narrative. They will learn about the significance of the event, considering the way the city worked together to achieve something incredible and connect this to their own experiences. Students will focus on sentence level writing with a focus on enhancing sentences using conjunctions including because, but and so.
Maths
We will be launching into our Multiplication and Division unit next week. Students completed a pre-assessment, and we were pleasantly surprised by the foundations of what they know and look forward to extending on this over the next few weeks. They will learn about doubling, halving, repeated addition and creating arrays to show multiplicative thinking. We will also begin rehearsing our timetables facts!
Science - Objects in Our Solar System
Students will learn about Earth as one of eight planets and other objects that make up the solar system. They will consider changing patterns in the sky by observing the daytime sky and exploring the phases of the Moon. Students will learn about constellations, including those of First Nations Australians, and recreate a constellation using chalk or craft materials. They will investigate how and why their shadows change throughout the day.

Our Term 3 focus will be on Personal and Cultural Strengths as well as Help Seeking. We will be covering the following topics and activities during Term 3! If you would like to read more, you can access the resource book by clicking the green button below!

A Celebration of Learning
This week in Writing, students shared a holiday recount about a special event or experience they enjoyed during the school holidays. They focused on communicating their ideas clearly by organising their writing in a logical sequence, using descriptive language, and including details to help the reader understand their experience. It was wonderful to see students enthusiastically sharing their memories while developing their confidence as writers. Check them out below!!
