Welcome to Term Three! We are very excited for another busy and exciting term ahead. We have lots of special events, engaging learning experiences, and fun activities planned, and we can't wait to share them with our students.

Book Week Parade
Literacy
The Foundation children have returned to school eager and ready to learn. We have been learning about the suffix -s and -es. A suffix is a group of letters added to the end of a word to change its meaning. We add -s to many nouns to show there is more than one.
Examples:
- cat → cats
- dog → dogs
- book → books
Our new mentor text is Giraffes Can't Dance, and the children have enjoyed watching Gerald's confidence grow throughout the story. Please use the following link to enjoy Giraffes Can't Dance online with your child.

Mathematics
In Mathematics, we have been exploring addition and subtraction to 10. Students have been representing addition and subtraction stories using pictures, materials, and ten-frames, as well as creating their own number stories and finding the total.
In Applied Mathematics, we have been learning about mass. Students have been predicting which objects are heavier or lighter and checking their predictions by hefting and using balance scales to compare objects.
Wellbeing
In Wellbeing, students have been exploring Topic 2: Activities 1–3, focusing on recognising personal strengths, working collaboratively, and showing respect for others.
During our learning, students have been:
- Identifying their personal strengths and how these help them play and work well with others.
- Listening to an Aboriginal story and identifying the emotions and strengths shown by the characters.
- Exploring how personal strengths can be used to show respect and build positive relationships.
Next, we will be exploring Activities 4 & 5.

STOMP Production Practice
This term, we have begun practising our concert item. Each week, students attend a session with their buddy class, where they learn dance moves for their performance. We have already completed two sessions and have learnt so many fantastic dance moves! Information about suggested costume ideas for the production will be sent out shortly.
Reminders
Satchels and Home Reading
Please ensure your child brings their satchel to school each day. To borrow a new coloured decodable book, your child must first return their current book. Once all boxes on the home reading sheet have been completed, please see your classroom teacher to collect a new sheet.
There is a QR code inside your child’s Boomerang Book which allows you to access Little Learners Love Literacy books online for additional reading practice at home. Here is a link to assist with reading: Reading at Home

Library
Please send a named bag with your child on their library day so they can bring a book home to enjoy. Students have received a red material bag from their teacher which would make a great library bag!

Shoelaces
We have noticed there are many children who come to school with laces. If they can't tie their laces, it is recommended they have velcro shoes. Here is a video to assist with learning to tie laces.

Toileting Before School
Please remind your child to use the toilet before school so that their learning is not interrupted in the morning session.
Spare Clothes
Please ensure your child has a change of clothes, including socks, in their bag.

Dojo Rewards
Congratulations to all students who have achieved their Silver Award (150 points). Certificates will be presented during assembly while students stand with their class. Students will choose their reward in consultation with their teacher.
Letter Recognition Game:
Let's play a Letter Challenge! Set a timer for one minute and see how many letters you can name. Record your score each time you play. Can you beat your score with each new attempt? Keep practising and watch your letter recognition skills grow! 🌟

Prep Bags 2027 Competition
The Department of Education is inviting young Victorians to showcase their creativity for the chance to design the 2027 Prep bag. This year's theme is "My Year of Prep."
The winning artwork will be featured on the front of the 2027 Prep bags, which will be given to thousands of students starting Prep at Victorian government schools next year.
