Preparation for Lent

Pope Francis - Lenten Pastoral Letter

Extract from Pastoral Letter: This Lent let’s not leave anyone behind

Second, to journey together. The Church is called to walk together, to be synodal. Christians are called to walk at the side of others, and never as lone travellers. The Holy Spirit impels us not to remain self-absorbed, but to leave ourselves behind and keep walking towards God and our brothers and sisters.

Journeying together means consolidating the unity grounded in our common dignity as children of God (cf.Gal3:26-28). It means walking side-by-side, without shoving or stepping on others, without envy or hypocrisy, without letting anyone be left behind or excluded. Let us all walk in the same direction, tending towards the same goal, attentive to one another in love and patience.

Shrove Tuesday

The students at St Aloysius involved themselves in enjoying the traditional pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. Pancakes were traditionally eaten on this day to use up such foods before the 40-day fasting season of Lent began. Money raised from the sale of the pancakes will contribute to our project compassion commitment.

Amount raised: $604

Ash Wednesday Combined Mass Celebrations

Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we seek the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scripture; we serve by giving alms; and we practise self-control through fasting. We are called not only to abstain from luxuries during Lent, but to a true inner conversion of heart as we seek to follow Christ's will more faithfully.

Daily Lenten Reflection

Thursday Mass in the Chapel 8am

The College is very fortunate to have a chapel on site. This provides staff and students with the opportunity to visit the chapel for quiet prayer. Throughout the year Fr James McCarthy, Parish Priest of Cronulla offers Mass in the chapel at 8am on a Thursday. Each week a class is rostered on. There is an expectation as a Catholic community that students attend mass when rostered on. All members of the community are invited to attend.

Senior Assessment Notifications

Notifications for SiCT, SOR 1 and SOR 2 have all been shared with students. It is essential all students read emails so they do not miss important information.
