At our Open Day this week I spoke to families about the additional support we offer to students at our college.
For our Juniors
- Our Diverse Learning Team do a fabulous job supporting our students on the NCCD with before school reading and numeracy groups, lunch time check ins and in-class support.
- Our Leader of Intervention runs small intervention groups for Enrichment in Mathematics with Enrichment Literacy to commence next term.
- All students in Year 7 and 8 have a Mathletics subscription to assist with essential drill and practice required to learn Mathematics concepts. Mathletics is an online Mathematics program offering immediate feedback as students progress through questions.
For our Seniors
- One on one sessions to develop a study timetable and good study habits.
- Weekly academic mentoring program THRIVE that incorporates Pastoral, Academic, University/Career and Wellbeing advice essential for students navigating the journey towards their HSC exams.
- Every Year 12 student has an ATOMI subscription, this resource offers Engaging and impactful curriculum content, fit for all types of learners. It covers all HSC courses and is intended to consolidate learning and assist with content review.
- Our Diverse Learning Team are actively involved with our NCCD students both in class and through small intervention groups for additional Numeracy and Literacy support and check ins.
- Our Leader of Pathways and Partnerships offers one on one meetings with all seniors offering career guidance post school.
- Our Leader of Intervention runs small group intervention in Mathematics.
- Extended opening hours of our College Learning Centre during exam blocks.
- Under construction is "HSC Thursdays" that will focus on guiding students through HSC style questions. This will be launched next term.
Wrapped around this support is individual data-tracking of every student within the College. Our Student Support Team consisting of the College counsellor, Year Coordinators, Dean of School, Leader of Learning and Leader of Pathways and Partnerships monitors data and wellbeing concerns and triages them to ensure students are referred to the support they need.
We recognise that each student has individual skills, talents and interests and will choose a unique pathway to success.
