Wellbeing Corner

This term has gotten off to a great start in Wellbeing, with a Wellbeing Day held in our school program on the second Friday back to welcome kids back to school. Our Year 7 & 8 fellas completed the next stage of the Mancave program, which from all reports was a fantastic day of connection and growth. We were also very excited to have former MITS staff member Max join for the day in his new role as a Mancave facilitator! The girls spent the morning connecting with each other with some wellbeing games and some breathwork and mindfulness with Megzy. During the afternoon, we were joined by the Djirra ‘Young Luv’ program for a session on Respectful Relationships, and finished the day decorating journals with Headspace. The girls loved the chance to connect with staff and each other, and learn some strategies to support their wellbeing.
I also want to highlight the new texting support line at 13 YARN. This is a vital service – guaranteeing First Nations support to anyone needing it. Sometimes when we’re not feeling well, the idea of picking up the phone to chat to someone seems too hard. This new addition to their service means people can instead text directly with a support person, building on their mission of ‘Your Yarn, Your Way’. Check out the pictures to see more about what 13 YARN do, and how you can access them for further support when you need it.
