VSCAL Carnival
Recently, students travelled to Warrnambool to participate in the VSCAL Carnival, joining young people from across Victoria in a range of sporting events.
Des had an outstanding carnival, playing for the Vineys Burrais and receiving several awards, including Best and Fairest, Leading Goal Kicker, and Best Player in the Grand Final. He was also part of the team that won the A Grade Netball Division. Malakai also had an exceptional tournament, helping his side secure the Division 3 Football Grand Final victory and being named Best on Ground for his performance in the decider. MITS was well represented throughout the carnival, with Malakai competing in football alongside MITS alumnus Harry. We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented themselves and the MITS community throughout the event
Games Night
Games Night is always a favourite in the boarding house, giving students the chance to unwind, connect and enjoy some friendly competition together.
This term's highlight was a fiercely contested game of Monopoly, with Tony emerging victorious and claiming bragging rights as the house's newest property tycoon. The evening was filled with laughter and good-natured competition, reinforcing the strong friendships and sense of community within the house.
Harmony Cup
CC, Evan, Jacob and Jermaine proudly represented the First Nations Rugby Team at this year's Harmony Cup.
The Harmony Cup is an annual multicultural sporting event that celebrates diversity, inclusion and community through sport. Throughout the day, the boys demonstrated excellent teamwork, determination and sportsmanship, representing both their team and their communities with pride.
Celebrating Mara
Congratulations, Mara, on your graduation and all the best for the future. As we settle into another term at MITS, it feels like a fitting time to acknowledge Mara and the positive impact he had on our boarding house community. Since joining MITS in Term 4, 2025, Mara consistently led by example, demonstrating maturity, dedication and a genuine willingness to support those around him. His positive influence was felt by both students and staff and helped shape the strong sense of community we continue to value today.
Now, in our first term without him following his graduation last term, we would like to thank Mara for the significant contribution he made to the MITS community. While he is no longer with us day to day, his leadership, encouragement and example continue to leave a lasting impression on those who had the opportunity to share in his journey. We wish him every success in the future and have no doubt he will continue to achieve great things.
The fellas gathered for one final evening with Mara before he begins his next adventure, sharing memories and presenting him with a farewell card.
