CEO's Update

One of the things I love most about MITS is the way people show up for our young people. Families, staff, Pathway Schools and supporters all bring something different, but we all want them to feel at home and have opportunities to thrive. Over the past two months, I’ve been reminded of this in both the big celebrations and the quieter, everyday moments.
Our recent Gala was one of those big moments. It was lovely to hear students speak so proudly, knowing there were staff beside them helping them feel ready, and Paul and Sally bringing the evening together behind the scenes. The quieter moments with families can be just as special. At a recent student-support meeting at Guling, a family shared just how proud they were of how far their child had come—a lovely reminder of why staying connected matters. It’s there in our work with Pathway Schools too, as we sit down with partners such as Star of the Sea, Firbank and De La Salle to agree on practical ways to help each student settle in and keep learning. Whether we’re celebrating together or working out the next steps, those relationships are at the heart of MITS.
As the end of the year gets closer, these connections feel especially important. Many of our students are getting ready for graduations, new schools and their next steps. There’s plenty to be excited about, and change can bring some nerves too. Having people around who listen, encourage and believe in them can make all the difference.
To everyone who is part of that support, thank you. I’m grateful for all you do to make MITS a place where everyone feels supported and knows they belong.
