Winter Play-offs 2026 Netball
By Lucy S and Keira G
Winter Playoffs is an annual sporting event for Year 5 and 6 students, bringing together teams from many different schools across Melbourne. Every year, students look forward to competing against other schools, showing teamwork, sportsmanship, and representing their school with pride.
There are three sports that students can participate in are: soccer, hockey, and netball. Each sport gives students the opportunity to improve their skills, make new friends, and enjoy the experience of playing in a tournament environment. Schools train in the weeks leading up to the event, preparing their teams for the exciting matches ahead.
If you were wondering how to play netball it's quite simple. Each team must have seven players on the court. When you have the ball you cant step or move and the positions are Wing Attack, Wing Defense, Goal Defense, Goal Keeper, Goal Attack, Goal Shooter and Center. Another thing is that there is no contact in the game so you can't run or touch the player with the ball. Who knows, maybe you could become the next netball superstar!
Today, we will be focusing on netball. Netball games are fast-paced, require strong communication and teamwork between players. Students work together to defend, attack, and score goals while encouraging each other throughout the game. The following students will be interviewed to share their experiences and thoughts about Winter Playoffs netball.
