Winter Playoffs Success

Last Friday, our students proudly represented our school at the Winter Playoffs held at Port Melbourne PS and Murphy Reserve. We had teams competing in soccer, netball, and hockey, and all students did a fantastic job showing great teamwork, sportsmanship, and determination throughout the day. Thank you to our grade 5/6 teaching team for stepping up as coach throughout the day and supporting our students in having a wonderful day!

I had the pleasure of spending the day coaching the netball team, who had an outstanding tournament. The team finished third overall out of 9 schools, just narrowly missing out on the grand final. They celebrated a great win against Toorak PS and drew with Middle Park PS, with the grand final spot ultimately decided by overall goals scored. An impressive victory over reigning champions Port Melbourne PS secured their third-place finish.

Congratulations to all students involved for representing our school so well and a special mention to our amazing parent helpers for all their support throughout the day. We greatly appreciate it! 😊

Performing Arts Update

A reminder that this Sunday, 24 May, our Choir and Taiko Club students will be performing at the Box Hill Japan Festival at the Box Hill Town Hall. This vibrant annual event celebrates Japanese culture through performances, cultural activities, delicious food, and market stalls, attracting many visitors from across the community each year.

Our students’ performance is scheduled for 10:35 am, and families and community members are warmly invited to come along and support them. We would love to see many CPS families there!

News from Visual Arts

This week, Prep students practised their drawing skills using the website Art for Kids Hub. Students chose a picture they wanted to draw and followed the step-by-step instructions to complete their artwork. They really enjoyed the drawing tutorials and appeared to become more confident in their drawing skills throughout the lesson.

Students can continue practising their drawing skills at home using the website.
