Week 5 Greeting
第5週のごあいさつ
It is hard to believe that we are already halfway through Term 2. Over the past few weeks, there have been many exciting events and activities taking place across the school, and it has been wonderful to see our students so actively engaged in their learning and school community.
One of the highlights this week was our STEM Incursion. Miss Zhao worked tirelessly to coordinate with Mad About Science to provide our students with a range of exciting and hands-on science experiences. Our Prep to Year 2 students explored how sound works, our Year 3/4 students experimented with heat, and our Year 5/6 students investigated the many ways light helps us see things differently. The sessions were highly engaging and sparked great curiosity and excitement amongst our students.
Another wonderful highlight was our first Open Day for prospective families on Saturday 16 May. We were delighted to welcome so many families into our school community. Mr Strain and I felt extremely proud to present our school and showcase the learning opportunities available to our students. Our student leaders also joined us in presenting the school and showcasing our Prep classrooms. They did an outstanding job delivering speeches in both English and Japanese and represented our school community with great pride and confidence.
早いもので、今学期を折り返し地点を迎えました。この数週間、学校ではさまざまな行事や活動が行われ、子どもたちが学習や学校生活に意欲的に取り組む姿を見ることができました。
今週の大きなハイライトの一つは、STEMインカーションでした。Miss ZhaoがMad About Scienceと連携し、子どもたちが楽しく実践的に学べる機会を提供してくれました。Prep〜Year 2の児童は「音の仕組み」について学び、Year 3/4の児童は「熱」に関する実験を行い、Year 5/6の児童は「光がどのように見え方に影響するのか」を探究しました。どのセッションも非常に魅力的で、子どもたちの好奇心や学ぶ意欲を大いに引き出していました。
また、5月16日（土）には、来年度以降の入学を検討されているご家庭向けに、本年度初のオープンデーを開催しました。たくさんのご家族にご来校いただき、大変嬉しく思っています。Mr Strainと私は、本校について紹介し、子どもたちの学びの様子をお伝えできたことを誇りに感じました。また、生徒のリーダーたちも参加し、Prep教室の案内や学校紹介を行ってくれました。英語と日本語の両方で素晴らしいスピーチを披露し、本校を誇りを持って立派に代表してくれました。

School Uniforms
学校制服について
We would like to remind families that our school has a specific Student Dress Code Policy which outlines the official school uniform items. As the colder months approach, students may begin layering additional clothing items underneath or over their uniforms. Please be mindful that students are expected to wear only those items listed within the policy document.
One item that is commonly worn by students is black leggings. However, as black is not a school colour, black leggings are not considered an official uniform item. We appreciate families supporting the school by ensuring students attend in the correct school uniform each day.
本校では、正式な制服について定めた「Student Dress Code Policy」がありますので、改めてご確認をお願いいたします。
寒い季節が近づき、制服の下や上に防寒着を重ねて着用する児童も増えてきますが、服装規定に記載されているものを着用するようお願いいたします。
特によく見られるものとして、黒いレギンスがあります。しかし、黒色は本校のスクールカラーではないため、正式な制服として認められておりません。毎日、規定に沿った制服で登校できるよう、ご家庭でのご協力をお願いいたします。
Morning Drop Off and Afternoon Pick Up
朝の登校時および放課後のお迎えについて
Please be reminded that our duty of care officially begins at 8:45am each morning when the Yard Duty teacher commences supervision in the playground. Until this time, any students in the playground must be supervised by a parent or another adult responsible for dropping them off at school.
We also kindly ask parents and carers to say goodbye to their child/ren in the playground rather than accompanying them into classrooms. This is particularly important for students whose classrooms are located in the main building. The upstairs corridor becomes very crowded and busy in the mornings, and we appreciate your support in allowing this space and time to remain focused on students and staff preparing for the day ahead.
Additionally, please be mindful of afternoon pick-up arrangements. Our school gates open for parents and carers at 3:15pm. Any adult entering the school grounds before this time is required to report to the office and sign in for child safety purposes. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with these important procedures.
毎朝の児童の安全管理（Duty of Care）は、Yard Duty担当教員が校庭での見守りを開始する8:45amから正式に始まります。それ以前に校庭にいる児童については、保護者または付き添いの大人の方による見守りをお願いいたします。
また、保護者の皆さまには、お子さまのお見送りは校庭で済ませていただき、教室まで付き添わないようご協力をお願いいたします。特にメイン校舎に教室がある児童については、朝の時間帯に2階の廊下が大変混み合います。子どもたちと教職員が落ち着いて一日をスタートできるよう、ご理解とご協力をお願いいたします。
また、放課後のお迎えについてもご注意ください。保護者の方が校内に入れる時間は3:15pmからとなっています。それ以前に校内へ入る場合は、Child Safetyの理由から、必ずオフィスで受付・サインインをお願いいたします。皆さまのご理解とご協力に感謝いたします。
Looking for Host Families for Japanese Language Assistants!
We are excited to welcome Japanese language assistant(s) to our school for a 3–4 week cultural exchange program during August–September 2026, and we are looking for caring host families to be part of this rewarding experience.
私たちは、2026年8月〜9月に実施される文化交流プログラムのために、本校へ来校する学生（複数名）を受け入れてくださるホストファミリーを募集しています。
Hosting Dates
- 3-week program: 8–29 August 2026
- 4-week program: 8 August – 5 September 2026
受け入れ期間
- 3週間プログラム：2026年8月8日〜29日
- 4週間プログラム：2026年8月8日〜9月5日
Funding Support
Host families will receive $330 per week, per assistant to assist with hosting costs.
補助金について
ホストファミリーには、受け入れに伴う費用補助として、学生1名につき週330ドルが支給されます。
Host Family Responsibilities
- Providing meals and accommodation
- Transporting the assistant to and from the airport
All assistants will bring a Police Check from Japan.
ホストファミリーの役割
- 食事および宿泊場所の提供
- 空港への送迎
なお、すべての学生は日本からオーストラリアへ来る際に「Police Check（警察証明書）」を持参します。
