French

Bonjour Moriac families!

I am excited to announce that French Day 2025 will be happening in the last week of Term 1 on Tuesday 1st April

Students will spend the first half of the day doing their usual school program, and the second half of the day they will be participating in different French activities with their class, there will also be a French disco in the amphitheatre at lunchtime. More details will be on compass soon.

Everyone is also encouraged to dress up in something ‘French’. Costumes could be inspired by a French person or character from history, French colours (red, white and blue), French food or French sports people. Get creative, and have fun!

Prep

Prep Students have been working hard this term in French to learn greetings. We made puppets to have dialogue with to practice our conversation starters in French.

Year 3/4

The Grade 3/4 students have been working on a booklet describing their family members. We have been looking at using adjectives in French. Sometimes the spelling of adjectives can change, depending on the noun they are describing. If the noun is a 'feminin' noun, then usually the adjective will add an 'e' at the end of the spelling. Students have also been looking at forming compound sentences using the conjunction 'parce que' (because) in French.

Year 5/6

The 5/6 students have been continuing their research on French speaking countries for a bilingual travel guide that they will make. This week we looked at making sentences using the 'futur proche' (immediate future) by saying what items of clothing one should take to their country of choice, depending on the activities they could do there and the weather. For example, if you were visiting France: If you want to faire du randonnée in the Gorges du Verdon, you can visit any time of year.  Vous allez prendre les bottes de randonnée, un pantalon and une chemise.
