The Arts

Fun in Term 1!

I have been very impressed with all the creativity our students have shown so far this term. From collaborating with peers in performances, to singing and dancing their favourtie songs, Moriac students love to be inspired and to produce outstanding Performing and Visual Art work.

Music

In Prep, students have begun to explore Pitch (high and low) and Dynamics (loud and soft), which includes singing different songs, playing on instruments and moving their bodies to music. 1/2 students have been exploring how to create rhythms on musical instruments, as well as body percussion. 3/4 students have begun composing their own mini songs, using music notes and rhythm patterns, whilst also trying to play to a steady beat. 5/6 students continue to play reggae rhythms, as well as creating their own mini reggae songs.

Drama

In 3/4, students have been learning to give positive and constructive feedback to their peers about what they have enjoyed about their performances. The 5/6's continue to work on their 5/6 production, completing read throughs and blocking of different scenes, and disucssing their character's motivations and activities.

Visual Arts

In Prep, students have continued to explore colours, now turning their attention to how to create secondary colours by mixing the primary colours together in different ways.  In 1/2, students have continued to learn about famous artists from history, such as Pablo Picasso and his style of abstract art work.

I look forward to seeing more of the student's work this term!

Thank you,
