KLA Feature - Year 9

It has been another productive term for our Year 9 students, who have continued to grow in their learning, leadership and contribution to our College community.
Student Leadership
The process of selecting our new Student Representative Council (SRC) leaders is well underway. Students were invited to nominate six peers they believed would demonstrate strong leadership qualities. Following the nomination process, shortlisted students participated in leadership interviews. We look forward to announcing our new student leaders for the coming year. In the meantime, our current SRC leaders continue to make valuable contributions to their homerooms and the wider College community.
Western Sydney University Fast Forward Program
Next week, a group of Year 9 students will commence the Western Sydney University Fast Forward Program, Charge Towards Change, at the Hawkesbury Campus. This exciting initiative encourages students to consider future tertiary education pathways, explore their interests and develop a greater understanding of the opportunities available to them beyond school.
House Sport
Year 9 students have made a fantastic start to this term's House Sport program, held each Thursday afternoon. The program promotes participation, teamwork, healthy competition and House spirit through a rotating round-robin format.
Students are currently participating in OzTag and volleyball, with each class having opportunities to compete, support their peers and develop their sporting skills. Across the term, students will participate in two different sports, providing variety and encouraging everyone to get involved.
House Sport is about more than competition. It provides students with opportunities to build confidence, demonstrate leadership, work collaboratively and support one another. We are particularly proud of the enthusiasm, respect and team spirit Year 9 students have demonstrated so far.
We look forward to the upcoming Week 5 finals and to seeing students embrace their second sport for the remainder of the term.
Supporting Our Year 10 Entrepreneurs
Year 9 students recently showed wonderful school spirit and support by getting behind their Year 10 peers during the $20 Boss Market Stall. Students enjoyed exploring the range of creative business ideas, products and services on offer while encouraging their peers in their entrepreneurial efforts. It was fantastic to see Year 9 demonstrating encouragement and community spirit as they supported our Year 10 students.
Thank you for your continued support of our Year 9 students. We are proud of their achievements and the positive contribution they continue to make to our College community, and we look forward to all that the remainder of the year will bring.
