Music News

The JMSS Music Team has hit the ground running in 2026, with some of the largest ensembles in our school’s history. Rehearsals are already buzzing with energy, and it is wonderful to see so many students involved across our bands, orchestras, choirs, and chamber groups.

Our first major event for the year is the String Soiree, to be held on Monday 23rd March, with a 6:00pm downbeat. We warmly invite members of the JMSS community to join us for an evening of outstanding string performances from our talented students.

We are also delighted to welcome our new Vocal Teacher and Choir Director, Chevaunne Keleher, to the JMSS Music Team. Chevaunne joins us with an impressive background in live music performance across Melbourne and the wider Australian music scene. We are thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the expertise and enthusiasm she brings to our program.

Instrumental music lessons are now almost entirely full, with several instruments on waiting-list status. However, there are still places available for Violin and Viola. To enrol, please visit:https://jmss.vic.edu.au/learning/curriculum/music-program/
