New Year 6 Play and Recreational Area

I am very pleased to report that significant progress has been made with our new Year 6 Play and Recreational Area. At this stage the landscapers are working on the seating and steps between the lower and upper deck of the area and the fencing contractors have been busy installing wire mesh which should keep the balls from entering the neighbouring homes.

Below are some photos of the fencing and an image of the seating that has been ordered. If all goes according to plan, the project should be completed sometime in Term Four. I look forward to providing further updates in future newsletters.

Congratulations to the following students

Aishira (Year 2) and is actively involved in a few activities outside of school. One of these is gymnastics, which she has been attending for approximately two years. During this time, she has progressed through two levels. Recently she participated in the annual gymnastics’ competition, where gymnasts are scored and ranked among peers (approx. 35 participants) competing at the same level within the club, and I am very proud to report that Aishira placed third in two different apparatus — beams and bars. Well done Aishira as this is an amazing achievement, keep up the outstanding attitude!

Vani, Agam and Sanja (Year 6) have been responsible for organizing our school’s mascot, Glen the Roo. Recently they presented to School Council and below is a reflection they wrote:

First of all, we would like to thank the school council for carefully considering and supporting our proposal to bring Glen the Roo to life as a physical mascot who will inspire and encourage students throughout their school journey. Without their open arms, this project would never have become a reality.

When we first prepared to meet the school council, we were a little nervous and uncertain about how our proposal would be received. Stepping into that room for the first time felt like a big moment, but the kindness and encouragement we received from both teachers and parents gave us the confidence to present ourselves.

We are extremely grateful to Mr. Sugihara and Mr. Catalano. Their guidance and encouragement helped us from the very beginning. Your advice and reassurance belief in us throughout our journey, gave us the motivation to keep going, even when we felt unsure. We would also like to acknowledge the Glen the Roo team, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes and assisted us through every step of the process. From refining our proposal, to helping us share the mascot idea with others, your dedication has been incredible.

We also want to give a huge thank you to all of the students who voted for Glen the Roo. Your votes truly made the difference. Every single vote of support showed that Glen is not just a mascot, but a symbol of school pride, unity, and spirit. This mascot belongs to you as much as it belongs to us, and we are so grateful that you trusted and believed in our vision.

With everyone’s encouragement, teamwork, and belief, Glen the Roo is no longer just an idea, it’s a reality. We are so excited for the journey ahead and can’t wait to see Glen out in the community, cheering students on, celebrating achievements, and being there as a reminder of the strength and unity of our school.

School Chess Team

Last week we had a small group of students represent our school in the Northern Star Chess Primary Open Zonal. The children performed exceptionally well and placed 4th overall. Some of the notable achievements include:

Reyan (Year 6) – Distinction and Bronze Medal in the Year 5 and 6 Category
Manish (Year 4) - Distinction and Gold Medal in the Year 3 and 4 Category
Aadyah (Year 5) - Distinction
Sithev (Year 3) – Credit
Ayaan (Year 5) – Credit

Class of 1985 Visit

On Friday 15th August, our school had the pleasure of welcoming back a group of alumni that graduated in 1985! It was an absolute pleasure exchanging and sharing what our school was like when they attended and how much it has changed over time. Thank you to Cameron for organising the visit and I look forward to the group returning in 5 and 10 years as they celebrate their 45th and 50th year of graduating from primary school!
