As part of our whole school approach to wellbeing, we’re excited to welcome Brainstorm Productions to Glen Waverley Primary School in Term 3 to perform their powerful and engaging show, Being Brave..
This award-winning live theatre experience is designed to help students build emotional literacy, navigate social challenges, and strengthen their resilience in the face of change. 💬 Why This Matters
At Glen Waverley Primary School, we know that learning happens best when children feel safe, seen and supported. That’s why programs like Being Brave are so valuable—they help us build students’ emotional vocabulary, boost self-awareness and provide strategies to manage difficult feelings.
This performance aligns with our commitment to Tier 1 wellbeing supports under the Department of Education’s Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS) framework and the Schools Mental Health Menu, which promotes evidence-based, preventative approaches for all students.
Being Brave also reinforces the values at the heart of our Whole School Approach to Bullying Prevention, encouraging students to be empathetic upstanders, to seek help when needed, and to recognise the power of kindness and connection.
🎓 What Students Will Learn
Through the stories of relatable characters—Fly, Isha, Tim and Billie—students will:
Understand how to support others and stand up for what’s right
Each performance is followed by a Q&A and supported by teacher-led classroom activities to extend learning beyond the show.
🏡 Supporting Conversations at Home
We encourage families to chat with their children after the performance about the messages of courage, connection and compassion. We’ll also share some take-home prompts to help guide these conversations in your home.
Together, we can ensure that every child has the tools to face challenges with confidence and feel supported by their school and family community.
Thank you for being part of our shared commitment to student wellbeing.
Warm regards,
