Sport at Mullauna

August 2025

State Cross Country:

Congratulations are in order for year 10 students Deanna & Perri, whom were the only two Mullauna students to qualify for the 2025 State Cross Country event in week 1 this term. Whilst Perri has qualified for this event for the prior 2 years, this is the first time that Deanna has done so, which is a hugely impressive achievement by both girls! Deanna finished ahead of an impressive 40% of runners in her age group, whilst Perri was forced to withdraw due to an injury. Well done to both students for merely making it to this level of competition!

Regional Senior AFLW:

Despite being riddled with injuries in the lead-up to the day of competition, the Senior girls AFLW team competed at their Regional round robin against the likes of Lilydale High School, Wantirna College & Vermont High School. Comprising a disproportionate amount of year 9 students to ensure that a team was able to be fielded, the girls toiled hard all day against strong opposition, but were unable to secure a victory on the day. Well done to everyone involved (Yasemin, Kaitlyn, Lotte, Aya, Perri, Lilli, Aditi, Kia, Snow, Vanessa, Sophie, Sarah, Maddy, Erin & Alycia) for bringing a never-say-die attitude to the round robin!

Regional year 7 girls Netball:

In an impressive display of teamwork, skill & match awareness, the year 7 girls Netball team competed at the Regional round robin tournament in week 3, where they faced up against Lilydale High School, Rowville Secondary College & Vermont High School. Competing against the likes of Rowville Secondary College, where they have their own dedicated Netball academy, was always going to be a tall order (pardon the pun), however the team (consisting of Jeyda, Sierra, Charlotte, Jasmine, Lani, Nataliya, Millie, Amelia & Amarni) more than held their own, but were unable to experience that winning feeling on the day itself. Simply qualifying for this advanced level of competition is an impressive achievement, especially for the newest additions to Mullauna!
