Looking Ahead to a Busy and Rewarding Term
An exciting term awaits our Senior School students, with important milestones, learning opportunities, and community events on the horizon.
For our Year 12 students, this term marks a particularly significant chapter as they begin their final full term at Peninsula Grammar. The arrival of the much-anticipated Year 12 hoodies and the countdown to just 100 days of schooling remaining provide special opportunities to celebrate the journey they have shared and the achievements that lie ahead.
Late last term, our Year 12 students demonstrated outstanding leadership and community spirit by organising a free dress day across the campus, raising funds for the Dolphin Research Institute. The initiative was followed by a pizza dinner and movie night, giving students an opportunity to come together and finish the term on a positive note.As preparations for final examinations intensify, Year 12 students will participate in VCE Trial Examinations during the first week of the September holidays. These examinations provide valuable practice and an opportunity for students to refine their preparation ahead of the final assessment period.
Our Year 11 students will also be looking ahead as nominations for the 2027 Prefect Team commence later this term. We encourage students to consider the many leadership opportunities available and reflect on how they can contribute positively to the School community in the year ahead.
We are also pleased to continue strengthening our global connections through our exchange and international visitor programs. This term, we look forward to welcoming students from France as part of our longstanding French Exchange Program. We are equally excited to host students from Pudong Foreign Language School in Shanghai and Greentown Yuhua School in Hangzhou, China. These visits provide rich cultural experiences for both our visitors and our Peninsula Grammar students, building understanding, friendships, and broader perspectives.
Learning beyond the classroom remains a key feature of Senior School life. Our Unit 2 Geography students are preparing for their field trip to Cairns in Week 2, where they will undertake firsthand geographical investigations and deepen their understanding of diverse environments and ecosystems.
Meanwhile, our Unit 4 Biology students will attend the BioSciences Laboratories at the University of Melbourne, participating in practical investigations focused on evolutionary change using Drosophila melanogaster (fruit flies) and exploring the science of immunity and influenza. These experiences provide valuable exposure to scientific research and laboratory techniques.
Finally, House Music is well underway, with rehearsals taking place across Years 7 to 12. The enthusiasm, talent and teamwork already on display have been impressive, and we look forward to the House Music Performance on the final day of term - a fitting celebration of creativity, collaboration, and House spirit.
With so many opportunities for learning, leadership, service, and celebration, we look forward to another rewarding and memorable term in the Senior School.
