The Peninsula Grammar Time Capsule 

In 1986, to celebrate the School’s 25th anniversary, Headmaster Mr Harry Macdonald led the creation of a time capsule as a lasting record of school life and spirit at that moment in time.

The capsule was placed within one of the western walls of the locker bay in S Block, an area that today forms part of the Pre-Senior Centre. It was intended as a message to future generations, preserving artefacts such as student work, school publications, photographs, and memorabilia from the anniversary year.

The photograph, taken under a stairwell during the ceremony, captures Mr Macdonald with a group of senior and junior students as they prepared to seal the capsule. The mix of ages symbolised the unity of the School community, with the younger students representing the future and the older students reflecting the achievements of the first 25 years.

Although the exact location of the capsule within the building is no longer known, the image endures as a reminder of the optimism and pride that marked the School’s Silver Jubilee, and of the hope that one day the capsule might be rediscovered and opened once again.
