TABLE TENNIS

YEAR 8 AND INTERMEDIATE GIRLS

On Thursday 10 September, our Year 8 and Intermediate girls travelled to the Leongatha Table Tennis Centre to compete in the regional table tennis competition.

The girls demonstrated a terrific approach throughout the day. They organised themselves into ranking order, selected their doubles pairings and approached every match with enthusiasm, teamwork and a positive attitude.

Both teams faced strong opposition from Leongatha and Bass Coast, with several players displaying considerable experience. The day provided a valuable learning opportunity, particularly as the competition was officiated to a very high standard. Our students were thoughtful, courteous and respectful in their discussions whenever there were any questions regarding rules or decisions.

As the competition progressed, the girls quickly adapted to the nuances of unfamiliar rules and became increasingly confident and consistent in their play. Their accuracy improved, and they produced some truly impressive rallies. The doubles teams showed remarkable improvement throughout the day, developing excellent communication and agility as they mastered what we fondly referred to as the “Ping Pong Dance”.

While both teams were ultimately defeated by strong opposition, there were several individual successes worth celebrating. Congratulations to Bridget (Year 8) and Keesha,Ruby and Emily (Intermediate) for their singles victories, and to Keesha and Emily for their success in the doubles competition.

Most importantly, the girls represented KSC with pride, sportsmanship and determination. They left the competition with improved skills, a greater understanding of the game, smiles on their faces and, somehow, less equipment than they started with!

Well done, ladies, on your wonderful efforts and exemplary representation of the College.
