MJR with Marty
Marty came in for the day to work with Grade 5 and Grade 6 students. He talked about having dreams and creating good habits. He also talked about the importance of having gratitude for what we have and having empathy for others. He highlighted some people who have shown resilience and a NGU (never give up) attitude. After Break 2 Huon versed Sassafras in the ‘Unselfish Game.’ Students learnt that if they passed the ball and worked as a team, they were more successful in getting the other team out.

Science in Sassafras
In Science we have been learning about different types of energy including kinetic, sound, heat, light and electrical energy. Our most recent focus has been on electrical energy. We created a circuit with a light bulb to test whether various objects were conductors or insulators. A conductor allows electricity to pass through which lights up the light bulb. An insulator does not allow electricity to pass through and the light bulb will not light up. We found that objects made of metal were conductors whereas those made of plastic were insulators.

Sassafras iPhone Selfies
We use the iPhone Selfie template to share things about ourselves. We created a self portrait as our screensaver. We then recorded our favourite activities, subjects and interests.
