CLEVER CLASS
In Grade Two during our TRP lessons we have been focussing on empathy and how we can build empathy through getting to know each other better. We have learnt that “when we have a better understanding about people and who they are, what they like, where they come from and much more, we can be more empathetic and understanding towards them.” In our student journals we were challenged to find different people in our class that matched certain descriptions. This included things like; find someone who has been camping, someone who has been on an aeroplane, someone who has broken a bone… We found this activity lots of fun and we got to find out things we didn't know about people, especially when we paired up to ask our partners questions about a topic. Some of us found it a little tricky to ask questions to find out more about people but we now have a better idea about the sorts of questions we can ask people to get to know them better. We have set a challenge to see if we can take the time to find out more about people in our class by asking questions.
We have also had a big focus on spreading kindness and we have found that being kind to others makes us feel good too. We would like to challenge everyone to spread kindness, it can involve simple acts that brighten someone's day, such as offering genuine compliments, smiling at someone, leaving encouraging notes, or helping with small tasks like holding doors.
What act of kindness will you do today?
