Year 12 Wellbeing Celebration

Wellbeing News

On Thursday, 16th July, during the first week of Term 3, the Wellbeing Team, supported by the Senior School, held a lunchtime celebration for our Year 12 students.

The aim was to celebrate our Year 12s, acknowledge how far they have come, and encourage and support them as they move forward. We also acknowledged that this would be their very last full term of high school before heading into their exams or embarking on the next chapter of their lives.

We put on a fantastic spread of food, including sushi, sandwiches, dips and crackers, fruit platters, brownies, cake, and other sweet treats. This was accompanied by our in-house barista and new Wellbeing Manager, Matt Phan, who served up delicious hot chocolates and coffees.

Students enjoyed the celebrations alongside a balloon garland photo booth and a creative piece designed by Bec Norton, where students were able to create their own little faces on a ‘Class of 2026’ board.

Something we love to do for our Year 12s on this special occasion is put together a personalised gift bag for each student. This year, we reached out to stores at Summerhill and Northland to help us fill these bags with some wonderful gifts, alongside the items we usually include.

Each gift bag contained:

  • 1 x Tangle Teezer from Gamesworld Northland
  • Items from Fullhouse Supermarket Summerhill, including honey cake, mochi bites, and lollies
  • Sanrio LUSH bath bomb
  • A coupon for 15% off at Zaatar Land Bakery at Northland
  • A YD discount coupon
  • A coupon for 10% off at Prime Nail Salon Northland
  • Mindful colouring page and bookmark
  • Affirmation quotes
  • Emotions wheel
  • Headspace psychoeducation resources
  • Weekly planner page, laminated with a whiteboard marker to use on it
  • A pen
  • Mentos
  • Snack packets of Oreos and Shapes
  • Iced tea sachet
  • Hot chocolate sachet with a small pack of mini marshmallows
  • Postcard to send to anyone as a gesture of encouragement

The most personalised part of the gift bag was a special card featuring each student’s name, along with comments and sentiments shared by staff at RHS about that individual student. These beautiful messages were thoughtfully compiled and handwritten onto cards for each student by our Wellbeing Team member, Bec.

It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our Year 12 students, recognise their achievements and growth, and remind them that they have the support of our school community as they approach this exciting next chapter.

Whilst reaching out to these stores and companies we also asked if they would like to donate some door prizes or items for the lunch. We were absolutely blown away by the generosity of the companies who did this. To add to what was donated above, we were given $1000 worth of Foot Locker vouchers, 2x double passes for Hoyts, discount cards that were given out earlier in the year from Peppa Lunch Northland, a $50 gift card to Kmart, 25x free glass screen protectors from D2 Mobile Northland, a hair straightener by Hairhouse Northland, many items from Priceline Northland and Amcal Northland. We are so grateful to these companies for being so willing to celebrate our Year 12s with us. In addition, we were given fruit from Big Fields Summerhill to help with our lunch.

I’d like to thank the Senior Sub-School for their support and help, the Year 12s who helped on the day – Grace, Cash, Stelina and Marko. Tommy T and Elly Gomez for photography. Caterina Carnovale for help in the shopping for the lunch, and of course our fabulous Wellbeing Team, Nat Studwick, Bec Norton, and Matt Phan, for pulling this special day together and working hard to make it happen. Along with all of the organising of the day, I would also like to thank all the Year 12s who helped write the thank-you cards to the companies that donated items.
