Principal's Report

What a jam-packed and joyful term it has been at Reservoir High School. As we head into the holidays, I want to take a moment to reflect on the energy, spirit and community pride that has defined the term.

Our students and staff brought their imaginations to life for Book Week, with a wonderful parade of costumes celebrating characters from novels and some films. It was fantastic to see our school community embrace storytelling and creativity together.

We came together as a school community to honour the memory and sacrifice of Bruce Kingsbury, VC in our annual ceremony - a moving reminder of the courage and service that shapes our shared history.

One of the undoubted highlights of the term was our Basketball Extravaganza, pitting our students against Victoria Police on the court. Huge thanks to our community partners - Darebin Basketball Association, Preston Rotary, Reservoir Salvos and Darebin Youth Services - for helping to bring this event to life, and to Channel 9 and the Police Media Unit for their coverage. Events like this build genuine, positive relationships between our young people and the police force, and the atmosphere in the stadium was electric. What a triumph to win the event for the second year in a row, and in such a closely contested match.

Our school proudly marked Wear It Purple Day, showing our ongoing commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for all students, particularly our LGBTQIA+ community.

Our students dazzled audiences with the production of Rock of Ages. The high-level energy, artistic skill and musical talent that our students showcased was simply mind-blowing. Each year I keep thinking the School Production can’t get any better, and yet the performances were simply magical.

As we move into the final week of Term 3 and the first week of Term 4, our Year 12 students will be undertaking the Practice Exams program. This is a valuable opportunity for students to consolidate their learning, build exam confidence and identify areas for focus ahead of their final assessments. We wish all our Year 12 students the very best as they prepare.

Thank you to every parent who has responded to the Parent/Carer Opinion survey. Your voice and insight matter a great deal to us. Can I please ask any families who have not yet completed the survey to do so by Friday 18th of September.
