Year 11 Business Management

Instead of the usual written SAC for our Unit 2 Marketing outcome, we learnt the theory in class, then we applied our knowledge and understanding in a practical assessment. We were tasked with creating our own business to produce healthy snacks. Some of the required tasks included: product development, packaging, brand identity, logos, websites, and marketing campaigns to sell to our target market. Sustainability was also a major consideration. Our final decisions were informed by the data we collected from our market research and surveys.

We were placed in groups according to our varied strengths and talents, with each group creating amazing presentations and unique and tasty snacks. It was quite challenging getting everything together in just two and a half weeks and working in groups with some peers for the first time. However, after seeing what each group created, tasting the snack samples, and with the positive feedback we received from the 2025 Business Management Year 12s made it all worthwhile. Our audience included Ms Watmough, various staff and guests and students studying Business from other classes. Through this practical SAC we not only learned how to apply the theory but also important communication, organisation, problem solving and collaborative skills. Oh, and did I mention ‘working under pressure’ to meet critical deadlines.

In all, it was a fantastic experience, and we students are very grateful to have been given the opportunity to learn in a practical and creative way.
