Students undertaking the MEM30522 Certificate III in Engineering – Technical recently participated in an exciting and highly valuable two-day incursion delivered by external training provider SkillsGen.
As part of the program, students worked towards achieving the AVIY0027 – Drone Operations competency, gaining both theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate drones in a professional context.
The incursion was structured across two days, combining classroom-based theory with hands-on practical demonstrations. Students explored key areas such as aviation safety, regulations, drone components, and flight planning, before applying their learning in real-world scenarios through guided flight practice.
The highlight for many was the opportunity to take control of the drones themselves, demonstrating their ability to operate equipment safely and effectively. The boys engaged enthusiastically throughout both days and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, embracing the challenges and responsibilities that come with drone operation.
This additional qualification significantly enhances their Certificate III Engineering – Technical, broadening their skill set and increasing their exposure to emerging technologies within the engineering and technical fields. With drone technology becoming increasingly relevant across industries such as surveying, construction, and design, this competency provides students with a valuable edge as they pursue future career pathways.
Overall, the incursion was a great success, and it was fantastic to see students learning new skills in an engaging and practical environment.
