Guitar Summit Wrap-Up

Last Thursday evening’s Guitar Summit Concert was a wonderful celebration of talent, collaboration and musicianship. The event began with an afternoon workshop for Guitar Orchestra 1, providing students with an invaluable opportunity to refine their ensemble skills and work alongside experienced musicians.

The evening concert showcased impressive performances from Guitar Orchestras 1 & 2, as well as Guitar Ensemble, with students performing confidently and musically throughout the program. A highlight of the evening was an exceptional performance by internationally renowned classical guitarist, Karin Schaupp. Karin captivated the audience with a breathtaking Spanish work that left the crowd in awe, before joining our very own guitar tutor, Matthew Teakle, for a stunning duet performance.

A sincere thank you to Enrico Le Mura, Rory Dollard, Matthew Teakle and Matt Sorensen for their support and contributions in making the event such a memorable success.

Studio Concert Wrap-Up

Last Tuesday’s Studio Concerts provided a wonderful opportunity for students from Years 5–12 to showcase the solo and small group repertoire they have been developing in their instrumental music lessons. The relaxed afternoon was filled with impressive performances and highlighted the talent, dedication and musical growth of all students involved.

Thank you to Jamie Kennedy, Melanie Stewart, Andrew Butt, Doug McRae, Kieran Stevenson, Rory Dollard and Matthew Sorensen for their assistance throughout the afternoon. A special thank you to Catherine Wasserman for her organisation and coordination of this fantastic event.

DJ Students at the Brisbane Marathon

This year has started off with several performance opportunities for students involved in the College’s Music Production/DJ Instrumental Music Program. One of the highlights has been the College’s recent participation in the Brisbane Marathon as part of an Environment Group initiative. Two of the College’s DJ Students Saiman KC (11S) and Darcy Mahoney (11S) kindly volunteered their time on a very early Sunday morning, to provide trackside entertainment across the morning. Students will continue with their performances this Saturday at the AIC Super Saturday round, as well as at Term 3’s Year 5/6 & 7/8 dances. Thank you to Enrico Le Mura for his work in facilitating this opportunity for our DJ students.
