VOCAL MASTER CLASS
ELENA XANTHOUDAKIS (CLASS OF 1996)
On Tuesday, May 28, we had a vocal master class with award-winning professional soprano Elena Xanthoudakis (Class of 1996). Elena now lives in Glasgow, Scotland, but was in Melbourne to play the lead role in Melbourne Opera's production of Lucia di Lammermoor.
During the workshop, students learned how important consonants are when spinning the sound out, to avoid repeating any phrases the same way, and many other vocal techniques. It was an educational experience worth having—one student wanted it to last the whole day!
Thank you, Elena, for your time and for giving the students such a valuable workshop.
Thank you to Dmitry who drove East Campus students over so that they could participate. Thanks also to Andrew Krause who came to take photos throughout, including one with Elena and her brother Nick who works as the AV Director at McKinnon Secondary College.
CAREER
Elena has performed with renowned orchestras and opera companies across the globe, showcasing her talent in a diverse repertoire ranging from Gilda in 'Rigoletto' to Lucia in 'Lucia di Lammermoor'. Returning to Melbourne Opera after her incredible success as Anna Bolena, Elena continues to enchant audiences with her unparalleled artistry.
Congratulations, Elena, on your wonderful career!
