WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Our goal is to celebrate and facilitate communication and involvement amongst the past and present college community.
If you win an award or have a success story, we would love to hear from you! Alternatively, if you come across a story about a Thistlelonian, please share it with us.
Do you want to share your story? We love to hear about lived experiences, pathways, and successes. Message us on Facebook or email alumni@mckinnonsc.vic.edu.au

NICOLE KEMP (CLASS OF 1984) & TESS HOENIG (CLASS OF 2017)
McKinnon Secondary College alumni Nicole Kemp (Class of 1984) recently had an exhibition titled 'Sew Angry' at the Glen Eira City Council Gallery.
Nicole says her exhibition was “a show full of colour, boldness, feminism, hope, politics, and a little bit of cheekiness. The work appears joyous and beautifully stitched, but on closer inspection is full of messages and voices that need to be heard. Lots of commentary on what it is to be a woman today and to be a female artist who works with fabric and stitch.”
We hope the McKinnon community had a chance to see and support her exhibition!
Artistic talents run in the family as Nicole’s daughter, Tess Hoenig (Class of 2017), has recently become a fashion designer for the brand Dangerfield after graduating from RMIT with a BA in Fashion.
Congratulations, Nicole and Tess, on your incredible achievements and good luck with your future endeavours.
RISHAB KIRAN (CLASS OF 2020)
Rishab Kiran (Class of 2020) has recently received a Dean’s Honors Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in his undergraduate course at Melbourne University.
Rishab graduated from a Bachelor of Design in 2023, with a double major in User Experience and Graphic Design. His portfolio to date consists of a range of unique and impressive projects which explore augmented reality, graphic design and user experience.
During his time at McKinnon SC, Rishab excelled in VCE Visual Communication Design, and his Unit 3/4 folio was exhibited in Top Designs as part of the VCE Season of Excellence.
We are so excited to see Rishab continue to kick goals and be such a rockstar!
Rishab’s portfolio can be viewed by clicking this link. I’d recommend viewing The Mandala Project; one of Rishab’s final projects completed last year at Melbourne University.
STEPHANIE BAKER (CLASS OF 2022) & MOLLY FOREHAN (CLASS OF 2023)
Look at our volleyball athletes now!
Stephanie Baker (Class of 2022) started volleyball in Year 7 in 2017 and Molly Forehan (Class of 2023) started in Year 7 in 2018. They have competed for the school at the highest level and competed for the state over the years, as well as State League.
They have been dedicated and valuable members of our McKinnon Volleyball coaching staff and now it is their turn to focus on their further volleyball development and futures at College in the US.
Stephanie has now started playing at Jefferson College in Missouri on a volleyball scholarship.
Molly has now started playing at Coastal Bend College in Beeville, Texas. We wish them all the best in this new adventure!
GEORGIA FORAN (CLASS OF 2023)
Over the last 7 decades, McKinnon Secondary College has seen numerous, now professional, athletes pass through its very own gates. Max Gawn, Jack Frost, Melina Ayres, just to name a few. Some may even say that their talent and successes are all thanks to our remarkable sporting culture within the school community!
However, in recent years, one very special athlete has graced McKinnon with her presence, and that athlete is Georgia Foran. With her versatility when it comes to both sport and academics, Georgia is one of the finest students the school has ever seen, and her record certainly shows it. She has represented countless football clubs over the years, playing in the Coates Talent League at Sandringham Dragons from 2020-2023, representing her state in the Vic Metro team in 2022, and now currently playing her second season for the Southern Saints VFLW side.
Although faced with injury the past few weeks, Georgia will be fit to play once again in the coming round of the VFLW.
Athletes like Georgia show all of us what hard work and commitment allows us to achieve, and all budding athletes, both boys and girls, should look up to her and her successes. We wish her all the best for both this current VFLW season and all of those in her triumphant future. I can certainly say that I am more than excited to see where her football career takes her!!
