IDAHOBIT Day

Friday May 16th the College recognised and celebrated IDAHOBIT day, International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, Transphobia and discrimination toward intersex people and gender diverse people.

Supporting and promoting IDAHOBIT day means strengthening human rights for everyone in our community. At Maribyrnong College we aim to create an inclusive environment where everybody feels safe and accepted regardless of gender, sexuality, ability, race or religion. Supporting and promoting IDAHOBIT day means strengthening human rights for everyone and taking a stand against violence, discrimination, and oppression toward LGBTQIA+ people in our community.

It was great to see students and teachers supporting the event. Everyone was encouraged to get involved in the lunchtime festivities as a reminder that everyone belongs at the school. There was live music, a bake sale, bracelet making and a nail polish station.

All funds raised went to a LGBTQIA+ charity.
