Italian

In week 9 and 10 of Term 2, students in Year 9, 10 and 11 Italian participated in the annual Dante Alighieri Poetry Competition.

Students memorised and recited various Italian poems including sections from ‘La Divina Commedia’ (The Divine Comedy) written by Dante Alighieri.

This year Middle School students participated online, meanwhile Senior students presented in person at Melbourne University in Carlton. Also, Year 11 students of Italian enjoyed a traditional pranzo Italiano at Donnini’s restaurant on this day.

The students felt excited, successful and proud and were incredibly responsive throughout the preparation for the recital with the precious help of our Language Assistant, Valentina, who offered her time during lunch breaks to sustain the students’ memorisation process. The online juror was really impressed by the preparation of our students and congratulated them all for their ability to memorize a poem in another language and to pronounce every line with good intonation and tempo!

Congratulations to Connor Batt and Xin Xuan He who made the finals of the Year 9 competition and will present their poems at Melbourne University with a chance to win a prize.

Bravissimi.
