Principal's Report

Dear parents, carers, students and staff,
A longer than usual Term 2 has come to an end, and it certainly has been a very full and successful term with many learning and extra-curricular highlights, including:
- Year 9 Urban experience, where students practised independent travel and learning and in doing so experienced many of Melbourne’s highlights.
- The very positive way Years 9, 10 and 11 students engaged with their recent mid-year exams and senior students approached the GAT.
- The dedication and commitment of Year 12 students to their studies.
- The wonderful variety of career opportunities experienced by Year 10s during their work experience program.
- The work of student and staff leaders in organising engaging activities for events such as Live for Lily Day, IDAHOBIT Day, Year 7 Belonging Day, Year 8 Medieval Day, Marby Market Day, Technology Week and Reconciliation Week.
- The participation and energy of all students who attended the Athletics Carnival, and the commitment of so many students to interschool sports and our world-leading Sports Academy.
- A series of student-led assemblies across the term where student achievements were celebrated.
- The mid-year Music Concert showcasing the talents of students across the school.
- The introduction of the first Maribyrnong College Anti-Bullying Survey for students, a survey designed by our wellbeing team. The survey will be repeated every year as we work with students to prevent bullying wherever possible and manage it effectively when something does occur.
We were also fortunate to have the Victorian Premier, Jacinta Allan, and Deputy Premier and Education Minister, Ben Carroll, attend Maribyrnong College to make a pre-budget announcement. Then in the following week’s budget, it was announced that Maribyrnong College will share in $10 million allocated for planning future school capital upgrades, which includes existing and new facilities. This was made possible by the considerable work of the parent group who joined with staff and students and our local MP Katie Hall to advocate so strongly for Maribyrnong College.
My thanks to all in our community for their efforts this term. I hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved break.
