⚽ EMR Intermediate Boys Soccer
On Monday, 20 July, our Intermediate boys' soccer team made their way to Thornbury to compete at EMR. It was a cold and overcast day; however, that did not dampen our spirits or our attack on the ball.
Our first match was against Mount Waverley, and after a slow start, we found ourselves down 2–1 at half-time. We dominated the second half but just couldn't find the back of the net.
Next up was Wellington. After an even first half, we found ourselves trailing just 1–0. The momentum was with us in the second half, and in the dying minutes, we had a beautiful shot on goal that beat the keeper but crashed into the crossbar, sending the ball out of play and dashing our hopes of a draw.
Our final game was against Ringwood. While the day was effectively over for us, it was great to finish by scoring two goals in the final match. Great effort boys!

⚽ EMR Intermediate Girls Soccer - 4/8
It was a wet and grey day in Thornbury; however, our Intermediate girls' soccer team was ready to take on all competitors on the pitch.
First up was Mount Waverley, and with them scoring early, our defence was under siege. Our defenders locked down their attackers, and we went on the attack ourselves. Some strong plays forward set up a few shots on goal, but unfortunately, we were unable to capitalise on the scoreboard, eventually going down 2–0.
There was no time to rest, with Brentwood up next. They had fresh legs and got the jump on us, scoring early. We went all out for the rest of the game, playing very solid offence. However, a late fast break from Brentwood saw the final score end 2–0.
Overall, it was a fantastic day for the team, and I must commend the girls on their behaviour and temperament on the pitch. A special thanks to Mr Larkin for joining us on the day.
Finally, congratulations to Keira Ellis for being crowned our MVP. 🌟
