Year 9 House Sport – Building Teams, Spirit, and Confidence
Year 9 students have made a strong and spirited start to this term’s House Sport program, which runs each Thursday afternoon. Designed to encourage participation, teamwork, and healthy competition, House Sport sees each homeroom class grouped with two others in a rotating round-robin format.
Each class is split into smaller teams, allowing everyone to get involved in the game. Students rotate through games and spectating roles, depending on the sport and schedule. The current format ensures that by the end of the year, each class will have had the chance to compete against others across the whole year group—strengthening connections and House spirit.
Year 9s will take part in two different sports across the term—one in Weeks 1–5, and the other in Weeks 6–10. This variety gives students the opportunity to develop a range of skills and enjoy different types of physical activity. Some classes are currently playing touch football while others are competing in volleyball, with all matches refereed by staff.
The goal of House Sport goes beyond competition. It’s about building confidence, working as a team, supporting one another, and learning to lead and collaborate. Each week, sport merits are awarded to winning teams and those showing strong sportsmanship.
We’re proud of the energy, respect, and team spirit that Year 9 students have shown so far this term. We look forward to more exciting games, finals in Week 5, and new challenges as they rotate into their second sport for the remainder of the term.
