Student Safety Reminder: Importance of Stranger Awareness
As a College committed to the safety and wellbeing of all students, we wish to draw your attention to the importance of having regular conversations at home about personal safety, especially when students are walking to and from school or waiting at bus stops. In the past two weeks, we have received two separate reports of unknown males approaching or following students during their commute. While the students involved are safe and the appropriate authorities have been informed, these incidents serve as a timely reminder of the need for vigilance.
We strongly encourage families to speak with their children about the importance of staying alert, walking in groups where possible, avoiding distractions such as phones or headphones when in transit, and knowing safe places to seek help if they ever feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Encourage your child to report anything suspicious to a trusted adult immediately. Together, as a community grounded in faith and care for one another, let us work together to promote wise and safe choices for all.
Update on Bus Timeliness – Feedback to Busways
In our previous newsletter, we addressed concerns regarding a number of late buses, even though the College reports this to Busways we also strongly encouraged families to provide feedback directly to Busways as well. We appreciate the effort many of you have taken to share your experiences, as your feedback helps ensure that student transport is as safe and reliable as possible.
Following this, Busways has contacted the College with the following statement:
We would like to extend our sincerest apologies for the delays that the students attending Caroline Chisholm College have encountered due to lateness to some of their school buses. We fully understand the frustration and inconvenience this situation has caused, and we deeply regret the negative impact it has had on your school community.
The ongoing heavy traffic in the area is unfortunately continuing to affect our bus schedules, and despite our best efforts to address the issue, these delays have become unavoidable. While we are doing everything within our power to minimize the disruptions, there are certain external factors beyond our control. Please know that our Scheduling department has been informed of this matter.
We genuinely appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Please rest assured that we are fully committed to improving our service to the community, and we will continue to make every effort to prevent such delays in the future.
Once again, thank you for your continued support. We truly value your understanding and cooperation.
Please continue to contact Busways as will we if our buses still continue to run late at times. As mentioned in our previous newsletter, visiting their website is the easiest and most convenient way to log a feedback complaint.
